Commuters and tourists face delays until autumn with overnight two-lane contraflow on the Prince of Wales bridge so workers can resurface.
From earlier this month and through the holidays the only main route between south Wales and the south west of England will be over the M48 bridge linking Chepstow and Aust and there will also be selected restrictions on that as well on certain nights.

On Monday 15 and Tuesday 16 July, the M4’s westbound carriageway will be shut and eastbound reduced to one lane between 22:00 BST and 06:00 the following mornings.

On Wednesday 17 and Thursday 18 July, the M4’s eastbound carriageway will be shut between 21:00 and 06:00.

On Saturday 20 July, the M4’s westbound carriageway will be shut between 22:00 and 06:00.

On Saturday 27 July, the M4’s westbound carriageway will be shut between 22:00 and 06:00.

From 06:00 on Sunday 28 July, a reduced speed limit and a two-lane contraflow will be enforced on the M4 bridge and continue throughout the summer.
