Nissan will end Note production in Sunderland next spring.
It has been a slow seller and now Nissan want to create room to expand Qashqai production as its best seller in Europe.
The company said it was going to put the next generation Juke, based on the Qashqai, into production for sale in 2018 but has indicated it may rethink its production strategy after Brexit.
Nisssan want assurances from the British Government that it would be compensated for any additional tariffs it could pay if it shipped from the UK plants to Europe.
The compensation deal has already made JLR suggest it could also seek tariff protection and Toyota, Honda and Vauxhall may follow as they export models from Britain to Europe.
